Algarve 2024 Festivals

There's always something to celebrate in Portugal. And there is nothing short of celebrations all throughout Portugal this year. Here is a list of just some of the handpicked festivals we chose to share in the Algarve in Portugal close to the Brisa Mar Vilas - new vacation spot in central Algarve Portugal which will be central to all the fun festivals in the Algarve. Be sure to book as soon as the calendar opens up this month!


You can google any location in Portugal and type in "festivals 2024" and you should be able to see a list of local Portuguese festivals in different areas of Portugal. The Portuguese definitely love to make time for fun and festivities.

Here are some fun festivals yet to happen in the Algarve area of Portugal for 2024:

The Silves Beer Fest is the current format for what was one of the most iconic Beer Festivals in Portugal - the Beer Festival in Silves Castle. Since it restarted in 2017 and after four editions, there is evidence of growing interest both among the public and potential exhibitors.

Faro - São Francisco Square

• Vivmar – Associação dos Viveiristas e Mariscadores da Ria Formosa

• The most important gastronomy event in the municipality is usually held between the end of July and the beginning of August in the Largo de São Francisco. For 11 days, it will be possible to savour the best shellfish from the Ria Formosa and other regional specialities that draw on the recipes and traditions of the municipality of Faro. Daily entertainment will be provided by local and regional artists.

Portimão - City Centre

26 July to 27 July 7 pm - 10 pm

• For two days, the most emblematic areas of the city will host an emotion-packed atmosphere, with live music, thrilling performances, light installations and interactive activations. Festival-goers can see presentations by Portuguese artists, laser shows around the city, art installations in honour of the sea, and light and neon shows, including video mapping, which will transform the facades of buildings into giant screens.

This year’s Sardine Festival will have an extra day of celebration (6 days) and the historical recreation of the sardine unloading will take place on the 30th of July, the day the festival opens.

For five lively days and five mysterious nights, Castro Marim will once again be steeped in the Middle Ages. On different stages in the town from the medieval market to the Castle, you can discover a wide range of arts and performances, from street theatre, passacaglia groups, jugglers, mischief-makers, fire eaters, bagpipers, tightrope walkers, swordspeople and contortionists to medieval music, Middle Eastern music and dance, religious music, medieval dances, snake charmers, processions and demonstrations of falconry.

VILA VITA Parc Resort & Spa

The Vila Vita Biergarten in Porches will be decked out in all its finery to host Oktoberfest, the much-awaited and popular Algarve-style beer festival. The typical party atmosphere of the beer festival, an event that originated in Germany, is recreated to a tee in the authentic “beer garden” in Porches. There will be plenty of entertainment and a menu packed with Bavarian delicacies served at the usual long tables.

Barão de São João

Lagos Municipal Council and Almargem - Associação de Defesa do Património Cultural e Ambiental do Algarve (Association for the defense of the cultural and environmental heritage of the Algarve)

This festival unites hiking with art in a diverse and extensive program with dozens of activities for every type of visitor: long, short, and themed (geology, botany, birdwatching, history, arts, and more) hikes, workshops, family-friendly activities, mountain bike excursions, and wellness events that invite participants to relax and enjoy nature.

Aljezur Municipal Council and the Aljezur Sweet Potato Producers Association

The Aljezur Sweet Potato Festival is an iconic event that celebrates one of the Algarve region's most emblematic products. Recognized for its superior quality, Aljezur sweet potatoes are not only an essential food in local cuisine, but also a symbol of pride and tradition for the community. The festival not only highlights the agricultural and gastronomic importance of this tuber, but also promotes the region's culture, crafts and tourism.
